Accounting Assistant
Job Responsibilities
• Reconcile, record, and process daily income from all sources through daily mail and online giving.
• Record and process manually all non-contribution deposits for three separate funds throughout the month and reconcile receipt registers monthly.
• Help process incoming mail about twice a week.
• Oversee and perform the Finance Department record retention function, gathering, labeling, filing, and disposing of documents as required by law.
• Assist in the month-end closing process:
- Reconciling bank statements
- Reconciling our income with our monthly donations as recorded in our donation database and non-contribution receipts
- Generating reports as needed
- Entering journal entries into the QuickBooks accounting system
- Verifying adjustments with the trial balance
- Generating various Excel reports as needed
• Assist in the year-end closing process:
- Helping to oversee the yearly physical inventory process
- Entering various year-end adjusting entries
- Performing various calculations and generating Excel reports as required
- Entering journal entries into the QuickBooks accounting system and reconciling all records to the year-end trial balance
- Being available for assisting our year-end auditors as needed
• Asset Depreciation Tracking
• Inventory Control and Pricing using the FIFO Method
• Various duties as asked by the Treasurer
Skills Required
• Applicant should have at least three years accounting experience performing the same or similar duties as described and formal education classes through at least intermediate level accounting.
• A minimum of an Associated Degree in accounting is desired.
• Applicant should have a working knowledge of the QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop.
• Applicant should be proficient in Microsoft Office
