GOD MADE OUR WORLD—AND ALL LIVING THINGS — page 1

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."—Genesis 1:1

"For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth...."—Colossians  1:16

"May you be blessed by the Lord, who made heaven and earth. The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord's; but the earth He has given to the children of men."—Psalm 115:15,16

The earth was perfect when God gave it to man. Read this booklet to find out what happened.

GOD MADE US — page 2

"Then God said, `Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion [rule]...over all the earth....'"—Genesis 1:26

MAN BECAME A LIVING SOUL  — page 3

"And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living [soul]*."—Genesis 2:7

"And the Lord God said, `It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper....' And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man."—Genesis 2:18, 21-22

*A living soul means we shall be somewhere forever.

ADAM AND EVE DISOBEYED GOD — pages 4, 5

We should never listen to the voice of Satan.

"Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, `Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.'"—Genesis 2:15-17

THE SERPENT, ALSO CALLED THE DEVIL OR SATAN, QUESTIONED GOD'S AUTHORITY, AND TOLD A LIE.
"And the serpent said to the woman, `You will not surely die.' So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took...and ate. She also gave to her husband...and he ate." —Genesis 3:4, 6

ADAM AND EVE COULD NO LONGER STAY IN THE GARDEN — page 6

"...The Lord God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken.... He placed cherubim...and a flaming sword...to guard the way to the tree of life." —Genesis 3:23, 24

IT WAS A SAD DAY FOR THE HUMAN RACE WHEN ADAM AND EVE SINNED  — page 7

"...Through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men...."—Romans 5:12

Something to Remember:
Every person is born with the sin nature and will someday die because death came by sin. (Read Romans 5:12 again.)

GOD'S PLAN TO RESCUE US FROM SIN WAS TO SEND HIS ONLY SON  — page 8

"And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins." —Matthew 1:21

"For in Him [Christ Jesus] dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily." —Colossians 2:9

JESUS IS GOD—IN HUMAN FORM — page 9

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.... And the Word became flesh and dwelt [lived] among us...."—John 1:1, 14

"Now all this was done that it might be fulfilled...: `Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,' which is translated, `God with us.'"—Matthew 1:22, 23

"For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." —Isaiah 9:6

JESUS CHRIST—OUR PERFECT SACRIFICE  — page 10

"...Who knew no sin ...." —2 Corinthians 5:21

"Who did no sin .... —1 Peter 2:22 (KJV)

No sacrifice (offering) man could make was PERFECT enough to take away sin.

"For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins." —Hebrews 10:4

Jesus is the Lamb of God. "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!" —John 1:29b

JESUS GAVE HIS LIFE TO SAVE US — page 11

Jesus was nailed to a wooden cross because cruel people hated Him. But His death was God's plan. Jesus, of His own free will, laid down His life to save you and me from our sins.

Jesus said, "No one takes it [My life] from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again.... —John 10:18

WE ARE REDEEMED BY THE BLOOD OF GOD'S LAMB
You were not redeemed [bought back] with corruptible things, like silver or gold, ...but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot." —1 Peter 1:18, 19

NO OTHER SACRIFICES CAN TAKE AWAY SIN
"...We have been sanctified [made holy] through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. —Hebrews 10:10

JESUS GAVE HIS LIFE TO SAVE US — page 12

Having now been justified [counted righteous] by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him." —Romans 5:9

While we were still sinners [disobedient to God], Christ died for us." —Romans 5:8

ALL WHO BELIEVE IN GOD'S SON HAVE LIFE — page 13

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. —John 3:16

"He has delivered us from the power of darkness and translated [transferred] us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption* through His blood, the forgiveness of sins." —Colossians 1:13, 14

*Redemption means we have been bought back.

"HE IS RISEN!" — page 14

"But the angel answered and said to the women, `Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.'" —Matthew 28:5, 6

JESUS CAME UP FROM THE DEAD — page 15

"I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades [hell] and of Death." —Revelation 1:18

"Because I live, you will live also."—John 14:19

Because Christ has conquered death and has the keys to death, we no longer need to fear death.

"Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You." —Psalm 56:3 (See page 46 for the promises of God.)

JESUS CAN SAVE YOU AND IS PRAYING FOR YOU
"But He, because He continues forever,...He is also able to save to the uttermost [completely] those who come to God through Him, since He ever lives to make intercession [pleading] for them." —Hebrews 7:24, 25

YOU AND I CAN HAVE ETERNAL LIFE  — page 16

Which road are YOU taking?

Jesus Christ is the WAY to eternal LIFE with God.

"Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." —Acts 4:12

"I, even I, am the Lord, and besides Me there is no savior."—Isaiah 43:11

WHY MUST WE CHOOSE JESUS IF WE WANT ETERNAL LIFE? — pages 18 - 21

2. It is Christ who loved us and died for us.
"...The Son of God...loved me and gave Himself for me." —Galatians 2:20

3. Only the blood of Jesus is the remedy for our sins.

"...The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin."—1 John 1:7

"In whom we have redemption [salvation] through His blood, the forgiveness of sins." —Colossians 1:14

Jesus said, "...Because I live, you will live also." —John 14:19

5. We must have the Spirit of Christ in us to be raised to life eternal (to live forever).
"Christ in you, the hope of glory." —Colossians 1:27c

"But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal [physical] bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you." —Romans 8:11

MAKE SURE THE SPIRIT OF CHRIST LIVES IN YOU

"Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish [be destroyed or lost forever]."—Matthew 18:14

No matter who you are or where you live, Jesus loves you and died for you. Jesus wants your love, too. You can show your love for Jesus by obeying Him.

"If you love Me, keep My commandments." —John 14:15

Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank You for dying on the cross to take away my sins. I am sorry for all the wrong things I have done. I ask You to please come into my heart and live in my heart forever. I am trusting You right now to make my heart clean. I take You to be my very own Savior and Lord. In Jesus' name, Amen.

TALK TO JESUS IN PRAYER ANY TIME  — page 32

Thank Jesus for all the good things in life. Praise Him for things He has done for you and for saving your soul. Pray for any need you have. Pray in Jesus' name.

"...Whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you." —John 16:23

"...Pray for one another...."—James 5:16a

"...Pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you." —Matthew 5:44

A PRAYER JESUS TAUGHT HIS DISCIPLES (A disciple is a person who follows Jesus.) — page 33

Jesus told His disciples to pray in this way:
"Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed [Holy] be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen."—Matthew 6:9-13 (KJV)

This prayer should be memorized. Believers often pray this prayer out loud together.

GOD'S TEN COMMANDMENTS TEACH US HOW TO LIVE (Exodus, chapter 20) — pages 34, 35

The First Four Are About Our Love for God

1. "You shall have no other gods before Me."

2. "You shall not make for yourself any carved image, or any likeness of anything...; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them."

3. "You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain."

4. "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy."

The Last Six Are About Our Love for Man

5. "Honor your father and your mother."

6. "You shall not murder."

7. "You shall not commit adultery." (Adultery is sexual unfaithfulness of a husband or wife.)

8. "You shall not steal."

9. "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor."

10. "You shall not covet...anything that is your neighbor's."

OBEDIENCE TO GOD BRINGS ANSWERS TO OUR PRAYERS
"And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight." —1 John 3:22

THE TWO GREATEST COMMANDMENTS  — page 36

Love for God

1. "Jesus said to him, `"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind." This is the first and great commandment.'"—Matthew 22:37, 38

Love for Man

2. "And the second is like it: `You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'"—Matthew 22:39

All the Ten Commandments (pages 34 and 35) are included in the Two Greatest Commandments.

LOVE IS THE GREATEST OF ALL — pages 37, 38

The Great "Love Chapter" (1 Corinthians 13:1-8, 13)

1Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become as sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3And though I bestow [give] all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing. 4Love suffers [endures] long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6does not rejoice in iniquity [wrong], but rejoices in the truth; 7bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.
13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

GOD IS LOVE
"...God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him."—1 John 4:16

A TRUE CHILD OF GOD FORGIVES OTHERS
"For if you forgive men their trespasses [wrongs], your heavenly Father will also forgive you." —Matthew 6:14

7 THINGS GOD HATES
"A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to evil, a false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren." —Proverbs 6:17-19

WORKS OF THE FLESH
"...Adultery, fornication [sex between unmarried persons],... idolatry, witchcraft, hatred,...wrath, strife,...envyings, murders, drunkenness,...and such like:...they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God."—Galatians 5:19-21 (KJV)

"...Nor homosexuals,...nor thieves, nor covetous...." —1 Corinthians 6:9-10

John also saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven.
"...The city was pure gold, like clear glass. And the foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all kinds of precious stones...." —Revelation 21:18, 19

JESUS HAS GONE TO PREPARE A HOME FOR ALL WHO BELIEVE IN HIM — page 45

"Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also." —John 14:1-3

THE SHEPHERD'S PSALM (Psalm 23)

1The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. 3He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. 4Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. 5You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. 6Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
