Modern Ethiopian Wants to Talk

“I received two boxes of gospel booklets from you—one in English and the other in Amharic. The ones in Amharic were sent to Ethiopia, with a few pulled out to make room for an Amharic Bible. I was wondering what to do with the remaining Amharic booklets when a friend of ours invited us to an African refugee picnic. We were told that a few families from Ethiopia would be there.

“When my wife and I got there, I was introduced to an Ethiopian man named Tola. I offered him the gospel booklets to pass around to any other Ethiopian refugees he might know. Just then the lady who invited us said, ‘He is Muslim.’ I told him that I was sorry and that I had confused him with another Ethiopian man (whom I later met). His immediate response upon seeing literature in Amharic was, ‘That is OK; it is about the Lord,’ and he requested one to read. We sat down at a picnic table and began to talk. He pointed to the cover of the booklet and asked, ‘Do you know what this says?’ I answered, ‘Yes, I do. It says Help From Above.’ He was surprised and said that in Amharic it was ‘Charity From Above,’ and wondered how I knew what it said.

“I told him that in 1974 I was addicted to drugs and alcohol and was crazy. I went on to tell him that a man at that time told me about Jesus and His gospel and gave me this very same booklet that he now held in his hand, that I had read it and realized that God loved me and gave His only begotten Son on my behalf. He was all ears. We talked for a good half hour and became friends. Later I met the other Ethiopian man, and he said that he would distribute the remaining booklets to other refugees.

“We should always be ready for the Lord Jesus to amaze us.”

Blind Man Distributes Booklets

“I am a blind evangelist and have been preaching the Word of God. The recent booklets I collected from your outfit have been distributed to the masses in markets, churches, and vehicles, and the people have expressed much interest in the booklets.

“I interact with about 200 people daily. They read the booklets from me which are very interesting to them. They appreciate the work I do as a blind man and have encouraged me to continue to perform my duties creditably to the satisfaction of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Wants Help to Win Souls

“I was very happy when I received the little booklet called The Way to God. I found it a tremendous tool to work with and would like to be able to distribute it.

“I am an evangelist/pastor by choice and a Bible teacher because I love the Holy Scriptures and the person of Jesus Christ. In obedience and love I preach the love of Jesus every day...on the city bus (that I take to work) to approximately 80 people. I also teach the Bible in public school to 400 students (each period) every Monday and Tuesday evening....

“I am requesting that somehow you help me, for I love lost souls and want to win them to Christ Jesus.”

Prisoner Comforted by His Savior

“Thank you so much for all the wonderful booklets and study books concerning God’s Word. God truly blessed me with your perfect timing, for with the same [mail] came a letter from my mom telling me my dad died. I stay in my cell with solitude and inner peace as I am comforted by my Savior and [the] Spirit, reassuring me my dad is much better off now, in heaven, away from pain, with a new body. Thank you so much for your Bible studies and Datebook.”

Changed for the Better

“I wish to apply for more details about the Word of God. I read How to Know God, and I was so happy that I came across such a booklet during my stay in London. After reading the booklet over and over, I was never the same again. Things changed in my heart for the better. I have made up my mind after reading your booklet to continue to serve my God with all my heart throughout the days of my life.”
