Amazing Ministry to Schools in Bolivia

FOR YEARS missionary Gus Schlamp and a terrific team of pastors and co-workers have been responding to awesome open doors into public schools throughout the countryside of Bolivia. School principals or headmasters readily welcome these visitors and invite them to share with their students, either in individual classes or during assemblies of the entire student body.

Workers pass out copies of Spanish The Way to God Scripture booklets, then teach through the booklets page by page, emphasizing and clarifying points of the gospel message. When they come to page 24, "How to Find Your Way to God," they talk through the steps leading to salvation.

After questions have been answered, the workers invite students and teachers alike to pray: "Dear Lord Jesus, Thank You for dying on the cross to take away my sins. I am sorry for all the wrong things I have done. I ask You to please come into my heart and live in my heart forever. I am trusting You right now to make my heart clean. I take You to be my very own Savior and Lord. In Your name I pray, Amen."

An amazing number of students and teachers in public school settings choose to give their hearts to the Lord. From 2005 through 2010, teams visited 5,669 schools, ministering to 44,734 teachers and 687,196 students. Of that number, 549,756 indicated that they had invited Jesus into their hearts as Savior. The Way to God Scripture booklet is left with each student and teacher as a follow-up tool.

In addition to the rural schools mentioned above, pastors have also been visiting schools in the cities of Bolivia, and during that same period of time shared The Way to God with 2,012,804 students and teachers. What a wonderful open door into hearts and minds of the young people in Bolivia!

Mother saved at childbirth

Pastor Jaime has worked in rural communities in Bolivia for five years, distributing The Way to God Scripture booklets house to house. Each booklet has his address and cell phone number on the back. He wrote, "One night, close to midnight, I received a call from a 12-yearold boy whose mom was having childbirth contractions and didn't have anyone to help her. Her son found my number on a booklet and called me. I went there with others to take care of her, and she accepted salvation along with her new child."

Massive Production for Spanish-speaking Nations

The e-mail from Dominican Republic carried a sense of urgency. When would the shipment of WMP booklets arrive? It was expected before now, and so many were pleading for booklets. As Harold Mack, WMP Director of Global Distribution, sent his reply, it carried the same message he had sent to so many other distributors waiting for booklets:

"Thank you for your e-mail regarding the upcoming shipment for Dominican Republic. I am sorry that it is taking so long to complete the production of Spanish for many Latin American countries. So many of our distributors throughout Latin America have been waiting and waiting for another shipment of Scripture booklets.

Unfortunately our income recently has been far below budget. We are totally reliant on God for provision when the income is down, we must reduce the rate of production. This month we had to further reduce our targeted production to 3 million booklets (we averaged 6 million per month all of last fiscal year).  So because we are producing at such a reduced rate, the production takes much longer to complete.  As the Lord provides, we hope to send out all of the many Spanish shipments during the next few months."

In Sonora, Mexico, an increasing number of churches have taken up the challenge of reaching their part of Mexico with the gospel, particularly through distribution of WMP booklets. WMP will be sending its first container shipment for this area of Mexico in the coming weeks. These pastors and church leaders are eager to begin major outreach campaigns once the literature is received. Our coordinator for Sonora state wrote, "Any word when we might look for the container for Sonora, Mexico? As you know this shipment covers over 3,000 different church groups and more than that in mission groups."

Requests for WMP literature in Spanish has continued to grow. The current production schedule calls for the equivalent of 21,158,184 Scripture booklets. This printing will provide for 25 national coordinators and major distributors in 15 countries, including Spain and Equatorial Guinea, the only Spanish-speaking country in Africa.

[You can help provide Scripture booklets for reaching Spanish-speaking nations. A $50 gift will provide 1,250 booklets; $100 will provide 2,500; and $1,000 will provide 25,000 The Way to God Scripture booklets. What an investment into open hearts and minds!]

Urgent Prayer Needed

While contributions in the first 8 months of this fiscal year are only 5 percent below last years level (and under budget 8.8 percent), the impact is more because we began last year with an extra $523,000 to work with assets transferred from a ministry which dissolved. Please believe God with us to provide for what He knows is needed and to multiply the effectiveness of the Scriptures we are able to print and ship.

Pat Caspary was raised in a family of ten in American suburbia, but as the tumultuous 1960s took their course, Pat went the way of drugs, arrests, and the hippie lifestyle.

The Jesus Movement swept hundreds of thousands of young souls (including Pat) into the kingdom of God nearly 40 years ago. Immediately, and for most of the next 16 years, Pat became a street evangelist and ministered in pulpits, leading teams onto the boulevards to share the Way, the Truth, and the Life found in Jesus.

In 1987, pressing into missions outreaches in Guatemala, Mexico, and then China (where Pat met Windy, the girl who became his wife), the fervency and dedication of ministry developed into full-time missionary work which has expanded into Burma and Thailand, where Pat and Windy live and preach the gospel in jungles.

World Missionary Press has provided Scripture booklets they have handed to tens of thousands during the past 23 years in Asia, among the tribal villages and inner-cities of the Buddhist bamboo nations.

Talented Musicians To Share in 50th Anniversary Celebration

Arturo Osorio and Chara Sonntag will present flute, piano, and vocal music - inspiring arrangements of hymns, worship songs, and classical melodies.

Arturo, originally from Tegucigalpa, Honduras, graduated from the National Conservatory of Music in Honduras and performed with the National Symphony Orchestra of Honduras 1999-2004. After graduating from Grace College with a degree in Music and a minor in Business Management, Arturo has been working full time as Director of Productions for the Christian Performing Artists' Fellowship and the MasterWorks Festival - ministries dedicated to spreading the gospel and encouraging Christian artists in the performing arts field.

Chara lives with her parents and sisters in Middlebury, Indiana, where she operates her private studio, Joyful Sounds Ministry Academy. She holds both Bachelor's (Judson College, AL) and Master's degrees (Ball State University, IN) in music performance. Chara serves as a church musician, as the pianist for the sacred music trio Soli Deo Gloria, and as a freelance soloist and accompanist for numerous ensembles across the region.

Arturo and Chara pray that their God - given musical gifts will bless, uplift, and inspire their audiences and exalt,  glorify, and honor the Name of Christ.

Special music begins at 5:30 as a prelude to the Dinner.

 Field Flash

Windy Caspary was born in a village in China and grew up in an atheistic  society. She always felt that there was something more to life. She searched for truth. While Windy was working in a hospital as a nurse, a Christian doctor led her to the Lord.

One and one-half years later, Windy met Pat, who was carrying Bibles into China. For 22 years since their marriage, Windy and Pat have teamed up to courageously and persistently preach, teach, and baptize people in dangerous and difficult areas of China, Thailand, and Burma. They have trained pastors and ministered to orphans and widows.

Windy is a gentle woman with a loving heart.

She testifies that World Missionary Press Scripture booklets are a vital tool they use in sharing the gospel everywhere they go.

Zeal for distributing Gods Word in the U.S.

A taxi driver in Reading, Pennsylvania, requested English and Spanish Scripture booklets. He wrote, "Thanks to you, I am an effective evangelist. I am a taxi driver who has memorized more than 100 verses from the Bible in order to share the gospel with precious souls. If I dont get to speak the Word, I rely on your anointed messages."

A faithful Christian man from Brooklyn, New York, wrote: "Recently someone who was very close to me died. She was a faithful woman of God. Everywhere she went, she passed out these booklets, and now that she is gone, it is up to me to pass around the Word. I will be using these booklets to introduce those who do not know God to get to know Him."

"My name is Jeff. Recently there was a representative of WMP at our church. I think it is a wonderful thing you all are doing. . . . It has been weighing heavy on my heart since that day in church. Even though he addressed all of us, I feel as though God was speaking directly to me, to go out and sow His Word.

"After church, I waited until the crowd subsided, then I took as many [booklets] as I could stuff in my pockets! I distributed all of them by handing them out to other people and planting them in various locations where people would pick them up. I prayed that if only one person would come to Jesus out of all the booklets I had, if just one person would be saved, that would be a good victory."

What about you? If you would like a supply of Scripture booklets in languages needed for your area, call 1-574-831-2111 or email mailroom@wmpress.org.  You, too, can be an instrument of sharing Gods love and hope.
