Focused on Winning Souls to Jesus

IN PLACES WHERE THE GOSPEL is freely shared and the Church is active and growing, the sense of urgency implicit in the Great Commission can often be lost. We look for more dramatic opportunities. But the soul of every human being is in need of salvation through Jesus Christ. Every one, whether living in comfort or squalor, needs to hear the truth of God's Word.

Brazil, the world's fifth largest country in population and area, has one of the largest evangelical populations in the world (Operation World). Yet throughout this vast land of 195 million people, spiritual openness has allowed false religion and spiritism to deceive many and draw away those hungry for truth. Believers in Brazil are working earnestly in diverse communities to present the One who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

Juarez and his wife are working in a quilombo, where some of the slaves in Brazil settled after they were liberated. No one else is working in this area. They requested The Way to God in Portuguese.

"We have an outreach team that works in our city and region. There are thousands of people to be reached, and we are prepared and focused on that purpose to win them to Jesus Christ with your cooperation by sending [booklets]."

"I am a pastor in a very poor small community that has a great need to learn from Christ, but unfortunately we cannot afford to buy materials for evangelism. So knowing of your ministry, we come for help with material and thus bring the great love of God to our city."

"We will be using these booklets to evangelize our small town of about 4,000 inhabitants. These booklets are of excellent quality and will help us a lot. Thank you very much for your help."

"We live in a small city with 15,000 inhabitants. The families in our city have little resources. My interest is in the booklet The Way to God - to be able to deliver to each family the Word of God."

"We want to thank you for all the booklets you sent. We personally saw over 100 saved; the crusade saw over 1,000 saved. We believe many Brazilians will come to the Lord through the literature we shared."

People from all over the world come to Brazil for various reasons. WMP Scripture booklets in various languages allow distributors to reach these immigrants.

In one state having many slaughterhouses, it is Muslims doing the slaughtering for export to the Middle East, North Africa, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. Booklets were requested in Bengali, North African Arabic, French, Hausa, and Portuguese Creole.

When disaster strikes, Scripture booklets are needed to bring hope and comfort. D. C. wrote from Brazil, "Flooding in the Teresopolis area (see map on front page) destroyed a local church, killing 15 members. The flooding claimed 830 lives, with hundreds missing. Over 300 children became instant orphans. Entire families were killed with at least 10,000 homeless.

These are radical moments that will scar many people for life, but for some it will be a defining moment to help them to find the love and comfort of Jesus and His salvation.

We passed over 1,000 The Way to God booklets to the church evangelism pastor. We pray that these booklets will help bring comfort, as well as souls to the kingdom of Jesus Christ."

Clovis N. has been working with WMP in Brazil since 1973, reaching a huge part of the country.  When WMP started sending booklets, he created a distribution team of trained workers to evangelize in almost all 27 Brazilian states, going into cities, slums, hospitals, streets, prisons, and the Indian regions of the Amazon. "I would like to thank you very much and all the donors who have helped WMP. Perhaps they don't know how important that help is, and that without that help thousands of souls wouldn't be evangelized and saved. I am grateful for the cooperation of the literature. Without it, my job wouldn't exist. You see, around 2,000 souls per year are saved and thousands are evangelized every day."

Before WMP had an established national coordinator in Brazil, almost one third of the orders received were from Brazil. Boxes at that time were sent through the postal service. Shipping a 40-foot container saves tens of thousands of dollars. Soon WMP will be sending three 40-foot containers (with 6,085,350 pieces of literature in Portuguese) to Erno Engelsdorf, WMP's national coordinator for Brazil. Erno will then prayerfully allocate these booklets to the thousands of waiting distributors throughout the country. This supply will be gone in well under a year, but it may be 18 months or longer before WMP can print for Brazil again. Six million booklets to reach 195 million people - only about 3 percent coverage. Cults, spiritism, and false religions all fill the void where the Word of God is not found. Believers are ready and focused. They look to World Missionary Press for the tools.

[Your help with this great need will be a blessing. A gift of $100, or $1,000, or $10,000 will be truly helpful in sharing God's Word with the people of Brazil.]

URGENT  NEEDS

A RECENT EMAIL from WMP's national coordinator in Ecuador underscored the need for us to increase production and get booklets out more quickly to distributors. "Many pastors and brothers and sisters are asking for booklets from every city in Ecuador. Newcomers are asking for the booklets because they like them very much. It is a great blessing in their lives. Pastors from every city in Ecuador keep calling me for booklets. They want booklets in great quantities, because they want to go to different places and give them to people who accept the Lord. I am sending the booklets to all the ones who ask for them because we want the word of the Lord to reach all the different places in Ecuador. Soon we will need two 40-foot containers."

World Missionary Press sent a 40-foot container to Brother Cordero in August 2010. With so many coordinators in Spanish-speaking countries waiting for booklets, each one must wait many months for another supply. Yet the calls come, "We need more." This same situation happened when a recent shipment was sent to our coordinator in Mexico City. Within weeks of the arrival of a 40-foot container, our coordinator called for another shipment as soon as possible. Those who had waited so long for booklets had claimed most of that shipment.

Production analysis has confirmed that with the staff and equipment already at hand, World Missionary Press could produce 9 million booklets (equivalency) per month at the plant in New Paris, Indiana. Projected production for March was 5 million. Increases in production are dependent on contributions to buy additional paper and pay for shipping/mailing of the extra boxes. The Lord has been faithful over the years to meet our needs. He has used His people to be the instruments of His provision. Will you be an instrument in His hands?

[No gift is too small to be appreciated nor too large to be put to good use. From the comfort of your home, you can help impact hundreds or thousands of people who need Jesus.]

Focus on Prayer & Praise

Praise God for providing above-budget income in February, enabling printing the equivalency of 5 million Scripture booklets each month in February and March. Pray that income for March, April, and May will more than make up for below-budget income in previous months.

   - Praise God that WMP of Canada has funded overseas printings on hold for months. Pray that printings in Indonesia, Myanmar, Pakistan, and India (one million booklets for Gospel for Asia) will proceed safely and be greatly used by the Lord.

   - Pray that container shipments en route to India and South Africa (EHC) and those planned for Brazil and Thailand will arrive safely and be quickly cleared through customs.

   - Pray through this newsletter as God leads you.

World Missionary Press, now in its 50th year, has provided 1.588 billion Scripture booklets in 333 languages for 210 countries free of charge. On February 28, 1961, Watson and Rose Goodman, missionaries to South Africa for 16 years, prayed through the night for confirmation that God wanted them to return to the U.S. to begin a worldwide printing ministry. By the end of March, they and their four children had arrived in the U.S., believing that God would provide.

To God be the glory!
