Choosing Christ

A WOMAN IN VIRGINIA who uses WMP Scripture booklets when she volunteers at a women's shelter wrote, "People willingly took the booklets. Two people from [an] event came to worship services. One woman said, 'God just spoke to my heart.' She cried and surrendered her life to Jesus. Thank you for choosing to do what God requires for His glory."

Every day someone somewhere chooses Jesus. They choose to follow Him despite ridicule, persecution, or isolation. Words of hope and eternal life from a small booklet radiate beams of light into lives of darkness and hopelessness. A life of desperation is turned into a beautiful tribute to God's grace because someone else chose to do what Jesus asked them to do. They gave, they sacrificed, they shared.

In Pakistan, where monsoon flooding has brought great devastation, faithful believers are sharing their faith in the one true God. They have chosen to speak because they know that cults have permeated many villages. They know that believers need to be grounded in God's Word and false teaching must be exposed. WMP's national coordinator in Pakistan explained, "What better way to help and bless the persecuted and suffering in Pakistan than by giving them God's very own words!"

WMP booklets are very popular with Pakistani pastors, teachers, and lay people. More booklets and Bible studies are being translated into Urdu for printing in Pakistan as funds are available. Recently 20,000 copies of A Bible Study on John in Urdu were printed there. Additionally, WMP is currently printing for our national coordinator in Pakistan.

[Every 10 boxes for Pakistan will cost $200 to produce and ship. Caring friends like you can help teach and empower believers there through portions of God's powerful Word.]

As all of this literature was being prepared, news came of the horrific floods sweeping through Pakistan. Cries of loss, helplessness, and hunger rose out of terrible destruction. Reports told of millions of people affected by the rushing waters with 1,500-2,000 deaths. From this tragedy God is showing His mercy and care as believers share His love and live out His Word in practical ways. The booklets being printed now in Indiana will make their way to Pakistani hands empty of earthly possessions. Please pray for great fruitfulness in this time of tragedy through the power of God's Word.

Indonesia

In Indonesia, the work of the gospel goes on steadily and quietly in a country where a great percentage of the people are of another faith. WMP's main contact in Indonesia, who has worked with WMP for more than 30 years, has requested an urgent printing of 50,000 Indonesian He is Risen! salvation coloring books at a cost of 20 cents each, or $10,000. Can you help?

To Stay or Go?

These Chose the Harder Way

SWAZILAND:  The Vanderwal family chose to follow God's call to Africa. They give of their medical skills to the people of Swaziland. Each of them, including their boys, 9 and 6, take every opportunity to share the gospel. Their recent newsletter shared:

"It's a privilege beyond compare to visit women who have just given birth and children who smile through extreme illness. Patients like to receive gifts, of course. But they welcome our prayers and handshakes just as much. Everyone accepts a booklet in SiSwati, which explains salvation in Christ supported by numerous Bible verses.

"Five years ago we could not find any material in the SiSwati language which talked about Jesus. World Missionary Press (WMP) in Indiana offered to do a special press run of their booklet Help From Above, which has been circulated worldwide. Since then, WMP has donated hundreds of thousands of these SiSwati pamphlets to the work in Swaziland. Occasionally, our team will canvas the entire hospital, handing out thousands of booklets in the morning, and then distribute SiSwati New Testaments in the men's and women's AIDS wards, where most patients are facing death."

MEXICO:  Jim felt the Lord's call to leave all behind and go to the violent and troubled area of northern Mexico. "The ministry of WMP is the heartbeat of the ministry here in Mexico," he wrote. "Every day I put 300 How to Know God booklets into the hands of the people in Nogales, Sonora, and now almost all the churches here are requesting booklets as well. God is moving in northern Sonora, Mexico, through the written Word. Pastors in southern Sonora want to use WMP booklets for their work as well. When I came to Sonora 19 months ago, not much was going on. Now God has opened doors and more contacts are requesting booklets. The bad news you hear isn't the only thing happening here. God is [at work] here."

PARAGUAY:  "In a one-year period, I gave out 554,300 WMP booklets to 62 workers in 12 provinces, and I distributed 46,710 booklets by which 10,000 people accepted Jesus Christ. In desolate areas we [ministered to] schools with six students, and in central areas [to schools with] up to 920 students. We visited 396 schools with 74,000 students, 3,800 teachers. We distributed 94,000 The Way to God booklets. By all this 5,800 persons decided to accept Jesus Christ as Savior!"

Praise God for the convicting power of His Holy Spirit! When the clear presentation of the gospel is read in WMP booklets, many choose to accept Christ. "The Jesus film and the booklet The Way to God were sufficient to [show us] the spiritual state we were in and the necessity of God. . . . I, the teacher, was the first to accept Jesus personally as my Savior!"

NEW YORK CITY:  Tom Kiser chose to follow the Lord's call to the streets of New York City. He developed his unique prayer station ministry after the World Trade Center bombings. A banner that simply said "Prayer" drew thousands who suddenly were dealing with loss, disillusionment, and fear. Where could they turn for help? In kindness and love, Tom and his teams offered to pray for their needs.

Tom wrote, "Your ministry has been a tremendous blessing to us and to the thousands of people we have given WMP booklets to. Right now I have about 17 people here for evangelism training and outreach. Most of the team are from various states in the U.S. One brother is from Dublin and two are from Canada. I just went page by page through the How to Know God booklet with one of the Christian brothers here, showing him how the topics discussed are precisely those subjects that a Muslim needs. He lives in a Muslim area and will be using them to witness to people in his community."

[Every dollar provides 25 Scripture booklets - for use in the U.S. and around the world. A $100 gift will reach 2,500 people, while a $1,000 investment will reach 25,000. You can make an impact for eternity through the power of God's Word.]

Focus on Giving

Year-end income in December and flowing over into January often impacts the pace of production through the slower summer months, enabling shipments to go out steadily to waiting distributors.

Year-End Giving

As the end of the year approaches, many take time to appraise their potential tax liability and its impact on the future. Our federal government recognizes the value of charitable giving and allows significant tax benefits for a gift to a qualified charity like World Missionary Press by those who itemize tax deductions.

Your gift now will have an impact on the outreach ministry potential of WMP throughout the world in the coming year.

• Cash

Your gift postmarked by December 31 could mean cash savings for you at tax-filing time if you itemize deductions.

• Appreciated Stock

Gifts of appreciated securities or stock can be advantageous in that they avoid capital gains tax. The date of transfer to World Missionary Press, Inc. is considered by IRS as the date of the tax-deductible gift. Stock can be transferred electronically by your broker directly to our Edward Jones account #943-07667-1-8, DTC #0057.

Gifts from Estates

When donors remember World Missionary Press in their will, the settlement of their estate often comes at the most opportune time! How we praise God for putting it on hearts to leave a legacy by sowing the seed of the Word of God, which works powerfully in the hearts of men and women, boys and girls.

The Need is Great!

Please consider helping the work to GROW by simply addressing, signing, and mailing the enclosed postcards to two families or friends who you think have a heart for missions and for sharing God's Word. Your support of WMP ministry in this way can help motivate others to become involved. (Postage for a postcard is 28 cents.)

Our hearts' desire is to be able to grow from printing 6,000,000 booklets per month to as many as 9,000,000 booklets per month.

The need is great. The need is now. Thank you!
-Jay Benson, President
