Needed: An Unrelenting Effort

WHEN BOXES OF WMP Scripture booklets arrive at a seaport or a doorstep anywhere in the world, God's purpose has only begun. At our facility in New Paris, Indiana, we have the privilege of seeing pages of Scripture roll off the King Press and boxes being filled with booklets by eager volunteers. Trucks arrive to carry away pallets and containers to far-off lands. Many have given of their time and resources. Often a sense of completion and accomplishment comes as we gather at the loading dock to pray and later watch the trucks pull away.

At the other end of the journey, eager hands are waiting to begin their part. Many have waited long months for the precious booklets. Plans have been laid to reach villages, schools, prisons, and markets. Requests for booklets reach national coordinators day after day even if there are no booklets to offer. But at last the boxes arrive!

"With hearts full of gratitude we send you our thanks and appreciation for all the effort by the WMP team to make this shipment of a 40-foot container to Central African Republic (CAR) a success. We were full of joy when the container was delivered. Twelve people worked for four hours to transfer the booklets into our literature storage. We praise the Lord for these invaluable tools for the harvest of souls in the sub-region. We thank God for your sacrifice and dedication to seeing that we are equipped. Believe God with us for multiplication of faithful disciples through new church plants this year. Pray also that our evangelistic efforts in both the prisons and among the elites will be crowned with huge success."

The request for this shipment to CAR was first entered into the WMP production sequence in May 2009. It arrived in CAR in June 2010. Often WMP national coordinators will have nothing to share for many months while they wait to hear that their shipment has reached the production stage. Other coordinators will carefully share the few boxes remaining to assist as many ministries and churches as possible. Each one has received enthusiastic reports of how the Word of God is changing lives.

"I always interact with the churches that collected the literature," wrote J.O. of Nigeria, "and from my interaction I found that the material is making a great impact in the life of youth and new converts. Booklets used in evangelism and Bible studies [result in] many souls converted. New believers have been grounded firm in the faith.

"I thank World Missionary Press for sending the materials to Nigeria. And I encourage them not to relent in their effort. God is using the materials to touch a lot of souls. More people are discovering the potential in your literature day by day. We have less than 100 boxes in stock, and in one month it will be finished. Therefore I am requesting another container."

For 49 years God has been our great Provider. He has sent money, staff, volunteers, and prayer partners. More than 1.5 billion booklets have been sent throughout the world in fulfillment of the vision God gave Watson and Rose Goodman as they served among children and teenagers in South Africa. They knew that a crucial factor in reaching so many needy hearts in so many places was through use of Scripture booklets. By faith, they followed God's leading. Today WMP sends out millions of booklets each month - and yet many still wait to hear. Why should they wait?

"I will not sleep until I send this report to you this night," wrote a distributor in Cameroon. "Thank you, thank you, World Missionary Press - to every person who has helped in any way to get the printed booklets into the hands of the people, especially the lost. We could not have reached out the way we do without these printed booklets."

God has provided coordinators in 70 nations to help distribute WMP booklets. Each one gives voluntarily of his time and effort to process the shipments, deal with officials, arrange storage and transportation, and oversee widespread distribution. A new coordinator for the greater Mexico City area agreed to receive a 40-foot container with 4,215 boxes. An association of more than 750 churches there wanted to give each church opportunity to have these tools for their evangelism. Eighteen months after this group submitted its request, the container arrived in Mexico City. From the 4,215 boxes, these 750 churches will at last have booklets to share - but they will have only several boxes each. One day after the container arrived and was unloaded, the WMP coordinator put in a request for another shipment! "I just want to tell you that we already have many requests for the material you are sending this time, and that we probably will need more as soon as you can send it."

[An investment of $100 for Scripture booklets for Mexico reaches 2,500 people.]

The need is great! Mexico City has a metropolitan population of more than 25 million people. One container, that took 16 months to be produced and arrive, carried about two million booklets. Meanwhile shipments to Brazil (194 million people), Nigeria (154 million), and India (1.2 billion people) wait in line. National pastors and evangelists visit WMP with hearts full of gratitude for the booklets they have received  - but broken by thoughts of all those waiting to hear.

WMP's coordinator in Chiapas, Mexico, reports an increased responsiveness to the preaching of the gospel in many areas as a result of WMP booklets being distributed. In one municipality, the brothers had always been run off because the people there did not want the preaching of the gospel. The brothers then distributed booklets in the area and trusted that the seed would do its work. Last month, when they visited again, they saw what God had done through the booklets: The people received the Word of God with joy! "We that live here in Chiapas understand that this is a true miracle of God."

In another city, booklets were distributed house by house. An outdoor preaching service followed the booklet distribution. After the service, the leader of the community came to the evangelists with tears in his eyes. "Please do not leave us. We want you to continue preaching the Word of God. My town needs not only these booklets but also to have the Word of God explained to us."

The arrival of boxes from WMP can carry the breath of encouragement and brotherly love from afar. "Thank you very much for the help you have given us," wrote Raul from Ecuador. "It is a great blessing to know brothers who are involved in the work of the Lord like you are. This encourages us greatly to continue working in evangelism because many times we get a little faint and weary when we don't have materials necessary to work efficiently for our Lord. But thanks to God that He put in our way faithful servants like yourselves in order that we can complete the great commission."

Bishop C. of Malawi wrote, "We have been blessed by your booklet entitled 'Njira ya kwa Mulungu' (The Way to God) in Chichewa. Please, please, men of God, would you send us these booklets? They are in high demand. We have 12,000 members in our ministry in different places here in Malawi."

When WMP receives requests such as this, we realize it may be months before we can fill the order. Like Hezekiah, we lay these requests before the Lord and ask for His supply.

[God has provided facility, equipment, staff, and volunteers to greatly increase production. As financial support allows that increase, we will gladly do the work . . . to reach many more millions with portions of the powerful Word of God. A gift of $200 will reach 5,000 people. An investment of $1,000 will touch 25,000 precious readers with life-giving truth from God's Word. Every dollar counts.]

"Direct-to-Plate" Technology for WMP Pre-Press Department

WMP had been investigating equipment for "direct-to-plate" capability for several years. This technology sends printing jobs directly from the computer to platemaking equipment, eliminating the process of making negatives (and stripping up negatives into forms) before printing plates are burned with the printing image. Printing plates can be produced direct from computer for all three of our presses at the rate of 26 per hour, allowing capacity for growth in production. Fixing errors and making new plates is easy and fast, saving time and money.

God led WMP to lightly-used direct-to-plate equipment in good condition for just $30,000 plus $2,000 for shipping. We praise God for quickly providing complete funding for this need through many friends who responded to this opportunity. The equipment is now in our plant ready to be installed.
