Exciting New Opportunities
for Sharing God's Word

New Opportunity in Costa Rica

A LAND OF TROPICAL BEAUTY and political stability, Costa Rica was once called the "Switzerland of Central America." But God looks at the heart. And the hearts of the people of Costa Rica need to know the truth of God's Word.

For several years WMP has provided only a small number of Scripture booklets to national pastors or short-term mission teams from the USA for distribution in Costa Rica. Recently, however, God has brought two separate requests for larger amounts of booklets to establish a continuing supply within the country and allow churches and pastors to carry out strategic evangelistic campaigns.

When Pastor M. received a small supply of WMP booklets, he shared them with other pastors and reports that many souls have been saved. They are now ready to receive a pallet of booklets (240 10-lb. boxes). Pastors are eager to continue the work. They need coloring books for the children, Bible studies for teaching and discipleship, and Scripture booklets for evangelism. Focus will also be given to the very poor and the more than 600,000 Nicaraguans who have fled to Costa Rica, looking for safety and opportunity.

A church-planting ministry working in the country has also asked for a large supply of WMP booklets for widespread distribution. They will receive a pallet (240 boxes) to assist in establishing new groups of believers. Please pray that these new partnerships and new opportunities will be blessed with a harvest of souls in a needy land.

New Partners in Honduras

WMP bindery operator Merrill Esch has long looked for a way to provide Scripture booklets for the faithful pastors and ministries he and his wife served with in Honduras years ago. At last things began to fall in place. As part of our upcoming container to Honduras, seven separate ministries - from pastors' associations and street ministries to individual churches and orphanages - are set to share two pallets (512 boxes) of booklets. Many of these ministries work with children, particularly orphans, and the He Is Risen! salvation coloring books will be received with great excitement and joy. Some of these churches also work among the Miskito Indians and will receive 10,400 topical Scripture booklets and 2,800 copies of A Bible Study on John in the Miskito language.

Christian Life Mission in Pennsylvania has requested a large supply of WMP booklets for their work in Honduras, including material in Miskito. This is the first time Miskito literature, prepared for Miskito Indians in Nicaragua, will reach those living on the Honduran side of the border.

Many distributors contact WMP's national coordinator, Walter Paz, regularly for booklets. With his thanks for WMP's help for the people of Honduras, he wrote, "This day I received a request from Harvest ministry. In early April they are conducting a crusade in the city's industrial capital, and I'm going to deliver some 150,000 Scripture booklets."

New Blessings from Mexico

Over the years WMP has been blessed to provide Scripture booklets for Mexico through a myriad of short-term mission teams, missionaries, pastors, ministries, and individuals. Some work along the U.S. border, taking the Word of God into cities threatened with drug-related murder and violence. Others work their way into the mountains and remote areas where few have heard of the saving grace of the One who created them for fellowship with Him.

In the southern state of Oaxaca, Bert Craft and his family minister the truth of God's Word among the Mexican people. WMP booklets have been an integral part of their work. In his report for 2009 he wrote, "This year we have been blessed to have received a four-pallet shipment from WMP. I say 'blessed' because for more than 10 years we had been carrying hundreds of boxes to Oaxaca from WMP in Indiana in our own trailer. Of the 1,200 boxes, we have already shipped or delivered 186 boxes to ten different states in Mexico. Our ministry in Oaxaca distributed over 100 boxes, booklet by booklet, to the indigenous people of Oaxaca."

WMP will soon be sending a 40-ft. container of Spanish literature to our new coordinator for the Mexico City region, EHC director Gloria Silva. One-third of the people of Mexico live around Mexico City, creating great demand and opportunities.

Distribution of WMP material in Chiapas has also expanded, not only in Chiapas but also in surrounding states, so that their new shipment will fill a 40-ft. container. WMP is also preparing Help From Above in Tzeltal de Oxchuc, a new language for WMP.

The total of Spanish Scripture booklets currently being produced for Latin American countries numbers more than 14 1/2 million, not counting Bible studies, coloring books and New Testaments! It's a challenge to produce that many, and it's another opportunity to trust God for financial provision. Each booklet represents someone who will read of God's love and grace bestowed on them through His Son Jesus Christ.

[Your involvement is helping to reach precious people with the life-giving Word of God. Every donated dollar provides 25 Scripture booklets to eager readers.]

Challenge from China

DURING HIS TRIP TO CHIANG-MAI, Thailand, WMP's Director of Global Distribution Harold Mack met two Christian workers from China who challenged him to help meet the overwhelming need for Scripture booklets in their country of 1.3 billion people.

One contact, who has been serving the Lord for 30 years, explained that for the past four years he has taken a more aggressive approach to the printing and distribution of Christian literature and Bibles. He expressed a concern that while many evangelism efforts focus on the cities, millions in China's villages have never heard of the Savior's love for them. A network of 1,800 key contacts is now in place to receive Scripture booklets. Each of these contacts has a network of people waiting to go home-to-home, person-to-person with God's Word. They could actually use as much as 100,000-500,000 copies of each title per month, or whatever God enables World Missionary Press to finance.

The second contact pleaded for one million booklets this year to help supply his network of church leaders with desperately-needed Scripture for evangelism.

In these villages, booklets are received with surprise and joy. Many have never received any Christian literature from anyone. The gift is held as a beautiful treasure, often received with tears. Though far from the bustling world, these precious ones are not forgotten by their Creator. He is sending His Word, calling them to an eternal fellowship with Him. They must not miss this message!

[Based on a quote we have received, every gift of $100 can reach 2,950 Chinese with the gospel message. A $1,000 investment can reach 29,500 Chinese with the way to forgiveness and eternal life. $31,400 could provide the first million booklets, strategically reaching villagers throughout China.]

Haiti Distribution Update

WMP Scripture booklets in Kreyol and French are flowing into Haiti. Many ministries are discovering the powerful little Scripture booklets and are overjoyed at what is available for them to offer while meeting physical needs. From Voice in the Wilderness, "The young men on the ground in Haiti have given away the Scriptures we shipped a few weeks ago and are asking for more. God is working in Haiti. The fields are ripe, and I have workers ready to work."

Thony Paul, WMP's coordinator in North Haiti, has long championed the cause of Christ in this nation long bound by voodoo traditions and beliefs. "Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is [trying] Haiti in fire as they do to gold. We send our gratitude to you all who help us carry that great burden. Now a lot of good news starts to come from Haiti. Our president announced three national days of prayer and fasting."

Permission has been granted by the Haitian Bible Society to print an additional 3 million Kreyol Scripture booklets (5 titles) over the next two years as well as 90,000 New Testaments, which will be needed to meet the continuing requests for those involved in the spiritual recovery of this nation.

[You can help with long-term hope for Haiti by providing God's Word at this critical time in the nation's history. Every $100 provides the comfort of God's Word for 2,500 Haitians. Kreyol New Testaments and Psalms with a Bible Study Supplement cost us $1.44 each to produce.]
