A Paper Missionary for Every Home

"SINCE MY BIRTH I DIDN'T KNOW about Jesus Christ. As I grew older and was married, I did not have enough money to survive. I tried to get help through witchcraft. Things went from bad to worse. I had no more hope in my life! My family broke up, and I was left alone in my misery.

"At this point in my broken state, a worker passed by my house and gave me some of your gospel booklets. In desperation I began reading the messages. I was surprised to find the cause of all my suffering so clearly explained in the booklets. That is how I came to know about Jesus, and from that very day I became a believer and a distributor. I started praying to God and experiencing Him in all my life. My family came back together. Please, I need more booklets to save other lost people like I used to be."

Testimonies like this one, relating the power of God's Word in the life of a faithful distributor in Malawi, are repeated day after day as WMP Scripture booklets are given and received in over 200 nations of the world. In the face of limited resources, persecution, or other hindrance, hundreds of distributors carry on the mission entrusted to the Church by our Lord Jesus. For many of them, their endurance and passion comes from having met Jesus Christ through a Scripture booklet. They have experienced God's transforming power and the hope of eternal life that nothing else on earth can give, and they must share that with others.

In these days of struggle, the people of Zimbabwe are seeking new hope. WMP's national coordinator Cleopas C., national director for Every Home for Christ, recently received a shipment of Scripture booklets and is joyously overseeing a major effort to get out the Word of God.

"In the past two months our friends at World Missionary Press helped us to receive a shipment of literature, a 20-ft. container with more than half a million copies of gospel booklets.  This is about the largest volume our EHC Zimbabwe offices have received from a partner ministry.

"Every single day, pastors from all across the country pour in at our offices to collect literature. We even have languages for refugee camps, prisons, and minorities like the Tonga and Chichewa people groups.  At the height of Zimbabwe's most troubled times, people have never so demanded the Word of God like now.

"Our offices have dispatched various shipments to many of the focus leaders and pastors working in secluded rural territories because this is the time to get the Word out.  The more materials go out house to house, the more we are inundated by inquiries, decisions, and offers from churches and pastors to join this giant effort of placing a paper missionary in every home.

"With this level of material supply, our hope is that beyond 2010, EHC Zimbabwe will be engaging a different level of ministry, celebrating comprehensive coverage and strategizing [about] the preservation of the harvest.  We are thankful to the Lord for this wonderful partnership - together we can do it."

Seeing God at Work Through His Word
Comments From Grateful Distributors in Zimbabwe

"We are grateful for the 10 boxes of literature we have been using in our area.  The material has not only helped us to reach the lost, but we have been able to use the studies on Matthew and Romans for Bible study.  Our outreach team has seen 19 inmates surrender for salvation this month. We will be back for more as we prepare for the next outreach."   -Rev. Z.N.

"We write to appreciate the role your booklets have played in our rural outreaches of Guruve.  We deeply appreciate the scriptural purity and simplicity of the booklets, as our association is trans-denominational. In the recent outreach, 47 adults responded to salvation calls.   It was refreshing for these villagers to learn that we were leaving the booklets freely to them for continuous study. We cherish the relationship we have with your organization."   -C.C.

"I grew up in Chitungwiza and have been a believer in the last three years.  My whole family has never known Jesus.  I live with my father and mum and two brothers and a sister.  In these three years I have tried to share with them about Christ, but they have not been willing to join. I got the booklet How To Know God from a crusade team.  Different members of my family have been reading it in our home, and I was surprised last week to hear my brother and mum asking to join me at church.  I am amazed that one booklet could do what I have been struggling to convince my family in three years."   -J.N.

"I have been reading The Way to God, and I have given my life to Him.  I request more materials like this to grow in Christ and also share with many of my friends at school who have not yet repented.  The other day my geography teacher borrowed the copy, and she tells me she is now praying."   -S.N.

God's mercy and grace reach into the deepest despair and the darkest night. He hears the cries and knows the sorrow of an aching, hungry heart. He sends His Word to reveal Himself and His salvation to all.

World Missionary Press will soon need to prepare more shipments for Africa. We must be faithful in supplying the Scripture booklets for those who look to WMP as their partner in reaching their families, cities, and countries with the gospel.

[You can have a part in this vital ministry, providing Scripture booklets in English and African languages for free distribution to those who are thirsting for righteousness. An investment of $40 reaches 1,000 people in African nations with "help from above." $400 provides 10,000 power-packed Scripture booklets.]

WMP Helps Fulfill a Church's Vision

SINCE THE 1920s, Bethel Missionary Church in Elkhart, Indiana, has been involved in missionary work in Nigeria. They sent missionaries from their own congregation to serve there, and they faithfully prayed and sacrificed for the growth of the Church among the Nigerian people. In the early 1970s, a breakthrough brought those prayers to fruition. A mighty harvest of souls came into the kingdom and the Church grew. That growth continues to this day, and the Church in Nigeria has become strong, no longer needing the intense support from America that brought it to birth.

To celebrate the 125th anniversary of the founding of Bethel Missionary Church, its leaders looked for a project that would reflect what God had done through this local church over the years. They looked for suggestions from the churches in Nigeria that were established because of the faithfulness of Bethel's people. The leaders were directed to consider the Reshe people group that lives along the Niger River.  Although there are only 46,000 Reshe people, they travel the river, carrying on commerce with various other people groups, making their influence widespread throughout the region. They are a Muslim people and have been difficult to reach, with only a small number of believers.

For 10 years the Bethel congregation prayed for the Reshe people. Then they learned that the Gospel of Luke had been translated into the Reshe language. They were so excited that now there was a portion of the Word of God that the Reshe people could read for themselves. Bethel contacted World Missionary Press about a special printing of 5,000 copies of the Gospel of Luke in Reshe to be sent to Nigeria. In February of this year that printing was completed, financed by the Bethel congregation.

The people of Bethel are rejoicing. They truly believe that when these Gospels get into the hands of the Reshe people, God's Spirit will awaken their hearts, because He has been preparing their hearts. They are confident that a harvest of souls will come from among this people group, and that as they have commerce up and down the Niger River, other unreached people groups will learn of the Savior.

[If you would like a DVD of Pastor Jim Smith of Bethel Missionary Church sharing about this project at WMP's chapel recently, we would be happy to send it to you free upon request.]

Three 40-ft. Containers for Brazil

FRANCISCO RODRIGUES has distributed World Missionary Press Scripture booklets in Brazil for 25 years. He has encouraged many others to be involved with WMP and has seen great fruitfulness come from the use of the Scripture booklets.

"One week ago a pastor visited from the countryside in NE Brazil, about 2,000 miles from Sao Paulo. He works with his team and church in small places that don't have an evangelical testimony. The pastor told us they carried food and clothing for poor people, and at night held a service with all the people. The pastor preached from the booklet Help From Above, with each person reading along. He would tell the people, "Open the booklet to such a page," and preached from there, explaining the meaning to them. Those people didn't have any portion of the Bible! The only thing they knew was idolatry and demon cults. When the pastor invited the people to receive Christ as their Lord and Savior, 72 people said 'Yes!' Praise the Lord for the power of His Word!

"In each town they plant churches, leaving a leader to take care of the people. This is possible thanks to your wonderful effort and your donors. Your work is more than important to win souls and to feed new converts. Only eternity will evaluate the impact of your outreach throughout this needy world."

Another distributor reported that during the wild reveling of Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, a group of believers from a local church went into the streets to share the gospel. They distributed about 400 copies of The Way to God in Portuguese, and several people responded to an invitation to put their trust in Christ.

A portion of a box of The Way to God was shared with a pastor who was excited to have these booklets to use in the church's ministry in hospitals, in bus stations, and in a gas station owned by a church member. Our distributor concluded, "Lord bless these Bible booklets, so powerful here. Bless those who have the vision to put the word of God to work in the lives of people."

Soon World Missionary Press will be printing Portuguese booklets to fill three 40-ft. containers. This printing will supply 12,600 boxes (about 6,500,000 booklets) for the thousands of distributors throughout Brazil for the coming year. But even this large quantity will not be enough to meet every request.

[Will you help reach the precious people of Brazil? Every $20 provides 500 Portuguese Scripture booklets. A $100 gift provides 2,500 booklets. And $1,000 will reach 25,000 people in Brazil with the printed Word of God.]
