WMP's national coordinator Walter Paz in Honduras met a man in a park and gave him the booklet Who Am I That a King Would Die in My Place? in Spanish. The man looked at the booklet, tore it, and exclaimed, "That is no good!"
The next day, as Walter was again in Central Park preaching, a man came to him and said, "Forgive me. Yesterday you gave me a booklet and I tore it. I was on my way home and could not find peace in my heart. By the afternoon, I paid for another bus ticket to come back and look for the booklet, but I could only find little pieces. But what I want to tell you is that with those small pieces I accepted Christ in my heart."
Often we quote God's promise that His Word will not return to Him void but will accomplish His purpose. WMP trusts in that promise for every booklet, Bible-study booklet, salvation coloring book, and New Testament that is sent out our doors. How wonderful to be a part of God's miracles of grace!
Walter Paz in Honduras is only one of many national coordinators and distributors in Central and South America who look to WMP for a continuing supply of Scripture booklets.
A hospital patient in Honduras read the booklet Help From Above, and five days later commented about the necessity of recognizing Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. In another fifteen days he was home with his family, studying the Word of God, and was happy because he had received Jesus Christ in his heart.
The current WMP production schedule calls for printing 11,586,245 pieces of Spanish literature, including 100,000 Spanish New Testaments. This significant quantity will provide shipments for Paraguay, Puerto Rico, Mexico (separate shipments for Mexico City, Oaxaca, and Chiapas), El Salvador, Panama, Colombia, Nicaragua, and Honduras. At each destination plans are eagerly being made to distribute the precious new supply of God's message of hope and salvation.
Transchaco Mission in Paraguay plans to use 1,250,000 copies of The Way to God in Spanish to cover the whole country. Brother Omar B. in Colombia will supply booklets for workers in the high mountain area of Bogota and beyond. Andres Noguera and leaders in Chiapas, Mexico, will receive their second shipment of WMP booklets. The first was quickly dispersed throughout that part of Mexico, where believers are often openly persecuted for their faith and resistance is strong.
As WMP's national coordinator in Panama, Robert Creech has distributed thousands of WMP booklets. At one time he was able to visit ships passing through the Panama Canal. While that opportunity is not so available as it once was, the Lord has opened a new door. Robert wrote, "We deeply appreciate the materials that your ministry so generously offers. . . . We have a great open door in the public school system and we need LOTS of materials."
Since 1989 Pastor Joel Padilla from El Salvador has received 3,268 boxes of Spanish literature from WMP. Due to changes in the U.S. Postal Service, we can no longer send boxes through the mail. Now he will take responsibility to receive a pallet of boxes via ship through the port. He wrote, "Thank you for your faithfulness in sending us booklets in the past . . . which we have distributed free in evangelism. This has given a great harvest of many souls who are now attending church in every community we visited, and the churches are growing. The [people] know the Word of God deeply, for which we give glory and thanks to God."
Another distributor in El Salvador reports that 38 inmates have graduated from their Bible school inside the jail. Former prisoners faithfully meet in a local church and are involved in street evangelism using WMP Scripture booklets. He, too, needs the supply to continue so the work can go forward.
Much of this large Spanish printing is destined for Mexico. David Blanchard, who leads a ministry in Laredo, Texas, reports people responding to the salvation message in the Tolerance Zone in Mazatlan, Mexico. "The Tolerance Zone is just that, an area of the city where anything and everything is legal. Prostitution is legal. Drug deals going down with the help of the local police is a common everyday event. One gang dominates one side of the zone and another gang dominates the other side. Should a member from one gang cross the main street into the other gang's territory, it starts an all-out gang war.
"In the middle of all this are families living, trying to survive and raise their children, hoping that they won't become statistics. We were able to bring the hope of the gospel and pass out New Testaments to those who answered the salvation call. These people had a dark hopeless future, but now they have a book of hope that they can take home to read about the life God has for them to live."
In Nicaragua, Isaac Estrada waits for his shipment. Although there has been much evangelism in his country in recent years, he predicts that the situation may become more difficult for believers in Nicaragua in coming days. (The president is an active communist.) Isaac senses an increased urgency to get out the Word while it is still possible. He will receive 1,300 boxes, including 24,000 Spanish New Testaments.
Along the rivers, in the schools and neighborhoods, in the prisons, and in busy streets Scripture booklets are given out all over Central and South America. There is a harvest to gather before the night comes.

[Your prayers and financial support are vital for on-going ministry. Satan hates what we do. We depend on God's almighty power for protection and provision. You can provide 1,000 Scripture booklets with a gift of $40, or 2,500 booklets for a gift of $100. An investment of $1,000 will reach 25,000 people with life-changing truth from God's Word.]

Printing in Myanmar

When Cyclone Nargis hit Myanmar, 50,000 He Is Risen salvation coloring books were nearing completion in a printshop there. The coloring books were spared and were soon being distributed among the refugees. We would love to print more in Myanmar, especially in this time of crisis, but our budget for overseas printing is already used up for this fiscal year, unless we receive more funds designated for printing in Myanmar.  We have heard that people in Myanmar are open, even the monks. "A whole village responded right where the cyclone hit." WMP Scripture booklets were left there and with a local pastor after the Jesus film was shown. Will you help Myanmar?

Record Production in April

During April, WMP pressmen printed more in one month than in any previous month of our 47-year history - a total equivalency of 9,537,000 Scripture booklets - an amazing feat, which helped us to "catch up" to our production budget average of 6.5 million booklets per month for the fiscal year to date.

Our binderies, primarily manned by volunteers, stapled and trimmed a record equivalency of 8,294,200 booklets in April. This was accomplished through extra hours by volunteer groups as well as by staff members who filled in over lunch times and at the end of afternoon shifts. We praise God for this encouraging month of record production. It showed us what CAN be done as we receive sufficient supporting contributions.

We urgently need to print 9 million Scripture booklets per month on a regular basis, but income in recent months has been substantially below budget. Please pray with us that God will continue to provide the funds needed for our presses and binderies to keep putting out booklets by the millions. Volunteers and staff are working hard to meet the increasing demand for Scripture booklets from all over the world.

[Each 1,500-lb. roll of paper for our web offset printing press produces the inside pages of 85,000 Scripture booklets and costs an average of $1,046. (Paper prices increased almost 5% on July 1, and rolls hold more paper than previously.) Would your family or church respond to the challenge of  sponsoring a roll of paper - to reach 85,000 people with the printed Word?]

A Capital Need - Custom-built Cutter for Bindery B

This much-needed custom-built equipment will enable Bindery B to bind small-size booklets such as Help From Above in addition to the larger booklets such as A Bible Study on John which it presently does, giving the option to operate both binderies simultaneously more often, using more volunteers, to speed up bindery operations as production increases.

Cost: $78,000 ($8,000 has already been received)

Focus on Giving
Every dollar donated to WMP provides for the production and shipping of 25 power-packed 48-page Scripture booklets, or its equivalent volume, on average.
   1. Remembering WMP in their will enables donors to leave an eternal legacy, often at a crucial time of opportunity.
   2. Transferring appreciated stocks as a tax-deductible contribution is an immediate blessing. Our Edward Jones account number is 943-07667-1-8; the DTC# is 0057.
