Encouraging Opportunities for Sharing God's Word
Cameroon-Three Hours of Testimonies and Praise
WMP has
been mailing as many as 2,000 boxes of Scripture booklets a year into
Cameroon, demonstrating the need for someone in the country to handle a ship
container. As coordinator for special projects, Harold Mack had been praying
for almost five years for a national coordinator for Cameroon.
In God's perfect time-during Harold's recent trip to West Africa
with WMP representative Fred Eiler-He brought together those who will be
responsible for receiving and distributing the contents of container
shipments to Cameroon, saving thousands of dollars in postage costs. Brother
Aloma of Every Home for Christ (EHC) in Cameroon was instrumental in making
travel arrangements for the two WMP visitors and gathered distributors to
meet them. He has agreed to serve as WMP's national coordinator in Cameroon.
What an answer to prayer!
God also led the men to Pastor Jonas Tam, who will work with Brother
Aloma in distributing WMP materials in Douala. Brother Tam is an energetic
and passionate pastor who has planted eight churches using WMP Scripture
booklets. Harold and Fred joined in a vibrant service, where hundreds of
African believers packed the church, raising their voices in praise and
worship to the Lord.
The distributor meeting in Douala was a wonderful time of rejoicing
and sharing. Some of the 30 distributors who attended had traveled quite a
distance to tell what God has done through WMP Scripture booklets.
The meeting lasted over three hours as testimonies, thanksgiving, and praise
overflowed.
It was in the busy, crowded city of Douala that God directed Harold
and Fred, along with Pastor Tam and his wife, onto a packed bus for a
31/2-hour ride to the city of Yaounde for another meeting of distributors.
At the back of the bus, they had opportunity to share the gospel with a
mother and two children, one of whom listened intently as Harold told the
story of Jesus from The Way to God booklet. Before the bus ride was
over, she had prayed and accepted Jesus as Savior.
One who attended the distributor meeting in Yaonde wrote,
"When we finally met you face to face, it was a long-time dream that
came true. We will not relent our effort to preach the gospel of the Lord
Jesus Christ. May the Lord truly bless you for partnering with us to spread
the Word of God in Cameroon. We believe that Cameroon is the springboard for
revival in Africa."
Central African Republic-the Spirit of God
Is Moving
The last of nine countries Harold
and Fred visited was Central African Republic. Brother Edet George Offong,
WMP's national coordinator, organized a visit to a pygmy church as
well as to a local prison and a
secondary school.
During the distributor meeting there, a pastor from Democratic
Republic of the Congo recounted that he had received about 30 boxes of
Scripture booklets when visiting Brother Edet in C.A.R. When he returned to
his home city of Kinshasa, several other distributors took all but two
boxes. He lamented that he had only two boxes left. But later he learned
that they had established 16 new churches in Democratic Republic of
the Congo with the boxes of WMP Scripture booklets and New Testaments they
had received from him. What wonderful fruit!
Brother Offong, through Adonai Missions International, is involved in
many opportunites to use WMP booklets in Central Africa Republic. Bible
Training Centers disciple and equip new believers. Church planting outreach
has started hundreds of churches in C.A.R. and surrounding countries. WMP
booklets are sent to distributors in the neighboring countries of Chad,
Sudan, and Democratic Republic of Congo, where it is difficult for WMP to
send supplies directly. Brother Offong has asked for prayer for the
political situation in those countries, as it is getting more and more
difficult to send boxes of booklets into those needy areas.
As we described in two previous reports, all along the journey Harold
and Fred heard how the Spirit of God is moving in hearts, churches
are being established, and believers are being energized through WMP
Scripture booklets, Bible studies, and New Testaments. Experiencing what God
does through His Word, distributors become even more eager to receive
booklets. The challenge-and the opportunity-is to keep them
supplied.
[A contribution of $100 will provide 2,500 people in Africa with a
Scripture booklet in their own language. A $25 gift will touch 625 precious
people. Every dollar produces and mails on average 25 Scripture booklets.
The need is great!]
Rapid Changes in Nepal
Once
described as the only Hindu nation in the world, Nepal has now become a
secular state. Rapid changes in the government have provided an open door
for the gospel.
WMP's national coordinator, Solon Karthak of Every Home for Christ,
writes, "We are thankful to WMP for sending Nepali gospel literature for
the past many years. I would like to thank WMP for continuously praying for
us in Nepal. Our God intervened and peace has returned in the country. In
this opportune time, we three EHC men will be going over to West Nepal's
four districts, carrying a lot of literature. Please send us The Way to
God and Help From Above Nepali booklets. If peace continues,
we will need a MASSIVE supply of literaure.
"We have opened an office in the Nepal/India border city of
Siliguri to provide literature for the Nepali diaspora, particularly in
India and Bhutan, where about 10 million Nepalese live. Please send a big
quantity of Nepalese booklets with some English, Hindi, and Bengali
booklets." In response to this request, WMP has sent 448 boxes with 232,960
booklets to Siliguri.
In addition, a team from a ministry in Indiana will be meeting with 15
Nepali evangelists who are eager to learn how to systematically distribute
the message of Jesus Christ to their nation. These evangelists requested
that the Indiana team bring with them WMP booklets (Nepali Help From
Above). "Nepal has opened greatly in the past few months, and
this is a prime time for the work of the gospel to take hold of the hearts
and minds of the Nepali people."
[A $50 gift will provide 1,250 Nepali Scripture booklets for
workers ready to use them in this critical time. A $500 contribution will
reach 12,500 precious people in Nepal.]
WMP Celebrates 45 Years of Publishing God's Word
How
encouraging to glance back a few years and then carry that look to the
present to see how God has been moving to enable World Missionary Press to
grow!
First came a replacement web-offset printing press that runs
20% faster than our previous press and operates much more dependably.
Then the Lord directed us to a used Mueller Martini bindery,
one that we were able to purchase at an equipment auction for a good price.
This second bindery allows us to bind more booklets more quickly.
In addition, we acquired an Imagesetter for our pre-press
department, eliminating need for the time-consuming process of stripping up
negatives.
And with the larger negatives produced by the Imagesetter, we can burn
plates for our printing press four times faster than before.
God enabled us to add a 60' x 100' warehouse/workspace to
provide the area needed to allow us to stage container shipments-20' or 40' ship containers that hold up to 2.4 million Scripture booklets in one
load.
God has provided a growing number of country coordinators, people
who are able and willing to receive large shipments and then sub-divide them
to workers in their countries. Sending Scripture booklets in ship containers
to those coordinators saves hundreds of thousands of dollars each
year over what the post office would have cost for the same amount of boxes.
As our production increases (present production is 5,100,000 per
month), more and more is going out via ship containers, resulting in a
lesser increase in percent of production cost.
Another significant step in preparing us for increased production is
God's provision for a new pole barn located just outside our main
production area. The pole barn will enable us to move our workshop out
there, plus shelves of supplies and storage cabinets-items that are not
directly related to production. This move will open up additional floor
space and allow more efficient production activity.
We praise God for these steps in preparing for growth.
With joy and focus we move ahead with the task of providing millions of
Scripture booklets for precious people around the world who desperately need
to learn of God's great love through the printed Word.
