June 2005 News Letter

"I was blindly following the Hindu tradition before I met with Christ. I came to know the truth through a servant of God who shared the message of love so powerfully. The man of God gave me a gospel booklet titled Help From Above, which contained the Word of the Lord. Upon reading, the Holy Spirit convicted me of my lostness and thus I confessed my sins and accepted Jesus as my Lord.”
—G.R.T., Madhya Pradesh, India

Throughout India’s many states and remote districts, national evangelists and pastors carry the gospel of Jesus Christ from house to house. In many of these regions Hindu majorities have enacted new laws designed to stem the growing number of people who are coming to the Savior. Many of these faithful witnesses have been threatened or beaten, but they continue to show Christ’s love. Those who are willing to accept Christ also face threats, loss of position, or even family.

“A servant maid working in an orthodox Hindu family came to our church searching for her son, who is very much interested in church activities. . . . [Returning the next day], she explained how she had been thrown out of the Hindu orthodox family where she was working, just for attending a Christian meeting. . . .  We are planting churches in rural areas for the poor and needy people. All our members are new converts. We are interested to give them more literature to guide them. Please help us by sending booklets.”
—Pastor M.J.N., Madras, India

WMP has supported Indian believers with Scripture booklets and Bible-study booklets for many years. In 2004 WMP sent more than 9 million pieces of literature to India. Those who have depended on WMP over the years as well as new contacts present an increasing demand for literature to reach India’s 1.2 billion people.

“In our experience, we have realized that God can and has used the print ministry very strongly. In spite of all our meetings, we have come across a lot of people who have come to God because they found our tracts through others. That is when we realized that we need to distribute booklets so that more people can know the true God. I wish you could give me more copies of all these books because we go at least three times a week to different villages. I know the booklets will be voraciously devoured since everyone is hungry for God.”
—W.M., Andhra Pradesh, India

“I am now 70 years old. From age 19 I have been doing the Lord’s ministry. For more than 35 years I have been receiving your WMP literature for our ministry. We have a team and a prayer group. The Lord is with us, and He does wonderful things. We request you to give us at least 100 boxes of booklets in Tamil and Malayalam.”  —P.T.B., Tamil Nadu, India

“By the grace of God we had the opportunity to use some of your Tamil [booklets] in our village outreach. Those [booklets] were a great blessing to us and the people. For the past 30 years we are proclaiming the good news in the villages. We have gone into hundreds of villages preaching and distributing tracts. We find the booklets are very useful in the village outreach.”
 —P.E., Nagercoil, India

Another ministry in the northeast region of India writes, “Every booklet that we received from you was very effective for the people of northeast India and surrounding countries such as Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, China, and Bangladesh.” —T.A., Nagaland State, India
In the face of persecution and danger, thousands of  faithful Indian believers are going to the poor, the forgotten, and the rejected with a message of hope. They look to WMP for tools for the work—precious words of God that will speak to the heart long after the evangelist is gone.

[An investment of $100 will reach 2,500 precious people in India; $20 will provide 500 Scripture booklets. A $500 gift will touch 12,500 people with the gospel.]
